Plastic & Reconstructive

There are many positive reasons to get plastic surgery.
The most common reason is to create a better, younger and more attractive look.
In most cases this will give the patient more confidence, more attention and consequently a better life. In many other cases reconstructive surgery is used to help victims of burns and deformities. Breast cancer survivors also benefit from plastic surgery when they get reconstructive treatment after removing one or two breasts. My Medical Destination understands all of these needs and has researched specialists in all areas of plastic and reconstructive surgeries.

RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERIES

Reconstrucción mamaria

DIEP consists in taking advantage of the excess skin and fat in the woman's abdomen, which, due to their physical characteristics of color, thickness and texture, are ideal for breast reconstruction. The tissue that is removed from the abdomen is taken to the chest, where it is joined to an artery and a vein through microsurgery so that it can have its own vascularization. This allows for the shaping of a new breast that will be very similar to the natural one in color, touch and behavior. In many cases, this technique also provides an aesthetic benefit for the abdomen, as excess fat is extracted as if it were a cosmetic tummy tuck.

Burns

Burns are a serious problem that require emergency medical care, and the approach is multidisciplinary and variable as it covers is the specific surgical aspect and continues through to a series of events that culminate in the final aesthetics.
Surgery plays a fundamental role in the whole process, from the performance of a mechanical washing, continuing with the escharotomy and fasciotomies, and including the application of flaps or grafts of redundant or synthetic skin. This treatment includes primary excisions, z-plasties, simple reconstructions, myocutaneous flaps, tissue expanders, and free and prefabricated flaps.

Cleft lip and palate

The lack of union of certain facial structures before the first trimester of pregnancy results in a cleft lip with or without a cleft palate. If your baby has this congenital malformation, it is necessary to begin treatment during the first months of life. The participation of several specialists, such as plastic surgeons, dentists, speech therapists and pediatricians, is necessary to solve problems such as closing the cleft lip and palate, correcting the nose, preventing functional alterations, improving the aesthetic appearance and quality of life.

Skin lesions and tumors

All pigmented and expanded lesions, such as tumors, lymphomas, sarcomas, lipomas (fatty tumors) neurofibromas, moles, cysts, etc., must be removed and studied to rule out the possibility of being malignant. Asymmetrical moles that are ulcerated and raised, with an irregular color and larger than 6 mm in diameter may be compatible with skin cancer. Resection calls for local anesthesia and possibly primary closure; if not, local flaps are made to cover the residual defect. This takes place in the operating room and recovery is immediate.

FACIAL SURGERIES

Facelift

A facelift is a surgical procedure to repair the skin of the face and neck. The correction is obtained by removing excess fat and skin, tightening the major muscles of the face and neck.
It is performed with preauricular incisions on the temples, behind the earlobe and in the area of the scalp.

Blepharoplasty

Surgical repair or reconstruction of an eyelid, technically known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure to remove fat and excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty can correct the sagging of the upper eyelids and bags under the lower eyelids, features that make us seem older and more tired than we really are and which, in some cases, can interfere with our vision. Blepharoplasty does not delete "crow's feet" or other wrinkles, however, nor does it correct drooping eyebrows. It can be performed on its own or in conjunction with other facial cosmetic surgeries, such as a cervicofacial lift or a brow lift.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty involves correcting a functional problem of the septum or a respiratory deficiency, performing a cosmetic change at the same time. Functional alterations of the nose may be due to trauma at certain stages of life, congenital malformations or development.

Mentoplasty

Mentoplasty is one of facial plastic surgery's most popular and satisfying techniques. By increasing the size of the chin the face acquires the balance needed to achieve a harmonious and more youthful appearance. We can help you look the way you always wanted to.

Otoplasty

Otoplasty is surgery that is performed in order to change prominent ears to a more normal position, decreasing the angle in relation to the head, or to reduce the size of large ears. This surgery is carried out on children and can also be performed on adults, there being no significant risks at this age.

Facial Fillers and Botulinum Toxin

There is a non-surgical alternative for the correction of wrinkles and improvement of facial expression, such as the use of Botulinum toxin that allows us to soften those expression lines acquired with the passage of time, as well as the application of substances that add volume in various areas of the facial contour, thus achieving an improvement in the aesthetic relations of the face.

Neck lift

A neck lift may be the answer. Loose bands of tissue or “turkey wattle” are caused by weakened neck muscles. A surgeon can correct this problem by adjusting and removing muscles in the neck, and taking out fat. A neck lift is often done with a facelift. As with any surgery, there is a small chance of infection. Healing takes up to two weeks.

BODY VONTOUR SURGERIES

Liposculpture

It consists of shaping of the body contour and is carried out by lipoaspiration, liposuction or liposculpture.
This technique consists of the removal of fatty tissue without resection of the skin by means of thin cannulas inserted through very small incisions.
There are different ways to perform this procedure:
The conventional way, in which cannulas extract the fatty tissue, once contact is made with it, by means of negative pressure with the assistance of a laser which liquefies the fat and also brings about greater skin retraction, enhancing the results.
The areas of the body that can be treated with this method are:
The abdomen, hips, outer side of the thighs, inner thighs, knees, ankles, back, neck and arms

Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure for reconstruction of the abdominal wall, which consists of removing excess skin and excess fat and tightening the muscles of the abdominal wall with the ultimate goal of reshaping the abdomen, waist and the shape of the trunk of the body. Sometimes this procedure is performed with lipoaspiration for better contour definition.

Breast implants

The breast implant is a prosthesis used in cosmetic surgery to enhance breast size (known as breast augmentation or augmentation mammoplasty).
There are various types of shapes and textures of implants, and of filler material available.
Implants usually come in two forms:
• Round. Placed vertically. They have the same width both at the top and at the bottom.
• Anatomic. Drop shaped, that is, wider at the base. They were designed to provide a more natural look as in some ways they mimic the shape of the unoperated breast. tanto en la parte superior como en la inferior.
• Anatómicos Con forma de gota, es decir más anchos en la base. Se idearon para que proporcionaran un aspecto más natural ya que en cierto modo imitan la forma del pecho no operado.

Gluteal reshaping

Gluteal reshaping consists of carrying out one or several treatments that are combined with each other: Liposuction or liposculpture of peripheral areas with or without lipotransference of fat removed from other areas to be infiltrated into the gluteal region.

Breast Lift

Aging, pregnancy and weight loss can have a negative impact on the appearance of the breasts. These are just some factors that cause the breasts to lose elasticity, soften and even lose volume.
Some women choose to combine their lift procedure with implants to further enhance the results.

Breast reduction
